CT Sounds engineered the MESO65-4 6.5” midrange pro audio speaker to have all the benefits of the DJ style pro audio woofers for use in a car audio environment. After an extensive R&D process, we finalized a design that features a custom tooled basket (no other brand in the world utilizes this basket) which gave us the ability to engineer a speaker that can handle more power and play louder than other midrange speakers in its class.
The custom tooled basket gave us the ability to fit a longer voice coil allowing the loudspeaker to take on more power and still move efficiently. Furthermore, this basket design effectively allows the spider to be positioned higher inside the basket preventing the spider and lead wire from hitting the front plate at higher power levels. Lastly, the motor design consists of a 33 oz ferrite magnet (Y35 grade) and an 8 mm T-Yoke which maximizes the power capabilities of the magnet.
Another feature that sets this speaker apart from the competition is the copper clad aluminum (CCAW) voice coil. CCAW performs better than copper voice coils at middle to high frequencies. It is also lighter than copper wire, therefore, allowing this midrange speaker to have a higher sensitivity and be louder than copper wire at certain frequencies. Conservatively rated at 250 Watts RMS, this speaker will wake up the neighborhood!
