Amp touchy, but works

I recently replaced my entire system in my supercrew truck, going from (2) JL Audio TW3 12's in a ported enclosure with a Rockford Fosgate 750.1 amp. I went with a CT Sounds 1500.1 pushing (2) 8" Meso's in a better built, larger ported enclosure. I expected a dramatic difference in sound. What I ended up with was underwhelming to say the least. The subs do not really produce until pushed close to their peak RMS ,which takes significant power, even with the 1500 amp. At volume, they're loud(ish) but kind of thin sounding and the deep bass (enclosure tuned at 32) IS there- more so than the JLs, but not as loud as I expected. At normal listening levels in my truck, the bass is underwhelming and significantly lacking compared to my previous set-up, and I really don't "feel" that kick drum hit as I anticipated with 8s (yes, I adjusted the EQ accordingly). By contrast, my original set-up had much more of a bass presence at lower volumes and seemed to produce more "usable" bass frequencies for daily listening at moderate volume. Whereas by comparison, the CT system seems to only really produce at higher volumes. I'm going to give it a few weeks, but I'm leaning towards going back to my original JL/Fosgate system. The subs do seem well built, and I had no issues with installing them. The amp however was very touchy; I had to reach out to customer service and almost initiated a warranty claim, but found there to be an issue with the bass remote knob. Once I determined the correct process to install it, did a hard reset on the amp, it works as it should. This was an issue I'd never experienced with other amp brands in the past.
