CT Sounds engineered the Thermo 12” Car Subwoofer to meet the demands of the SPL crowd looking for unparalleled loudness. While the Thermo 12” shares a 1500-watt RMS power rating with the popular Meso 12”, it stands out by delivering exceptional peak loudness at targeted frequencies (SPL). In contrast, the Meso 12” is known for its impeccable bandwidth - you can play very low, very high, and everywhere in between, making it ideal for individuals seeking consistent loudness across all frequencies (SQL).

Quick Facts:
RMS Power: 1500 Watts
MAX Power: 3000 Watts
Voice Coil Configuration: Dual 2 Ohm
Push Terminal Size: 4 Gauge

Observing many customers running the Meso 12” outside our recommended box specifications (1.5 ft3) in pursuit of high SPL peaks, we recognized a crucial issue: as the box size increases, the SPL range narrows, potentially causing the subwoofer to unload. This realization spurred the development of the Thermo 12”, featuring an oversized motor assembly and a 10-inch quad-layered spider suspension, ensuring stability when chasing those SPL peaks. Moreover, the subwoofer features a mega foam surround seamlessly integrated with the 6% carbon fiber reinforced cone.

While the Meso 12” excels in delivering consistent loudness across all frequencies, the Thermo 12” focuses on achieving exceptional SPL peaks. Although the Thermo 12” sacrifices some bandwidth compared to the Meso 12”, it offers unmatched capability in reaching those peak loudness levels. If you're in pursuit of 150+ dB and aiming to make a bold statement with your sound system, the Thermo 12” stands as your ultimate choice.

*Flat response curve (SQ) is geared towards people looking for responsiveness. This style box is loud on all frequencies, generates little impedance loss, and can utilize an amplifier rated at the same RMS as the subwoofer.

*Boomer response curve (SPL) is geared towards people looking for maximum loudness. This style box will be louder than the flat response curve at some frequencies, has a high impedance rise, and can utilize an amplifier rated at a slightly higher RMS than the subwoofer.

*Enclosure recommendations do not account for subwoofer, bracing, and port displacement.

Supreme bass

I blew my SKAR ZVX D1 and I was on the fence about what sub to replace it with. I was hoping to get the CT Exo but due to availability I went with the THERMO Dual 2 ohm. Omg this sub is amazing, still in the break in phase but it is definitely a better sub.

From Flush to Inverted

I’m new at this guys so work with me here. I purchased a 12” box from Ground Shake with ported 2.7ft of air volume at 30 hz. I mounted the Thermo flush to start for a week. I had a 2 hour ride from work playing the sub this afternoon. Something was telling me I did something wrong, because the bass I expected wasn’t there even though it sounded great. Today I inverted the sub and wow the volume of the sub is elevated to my expectations. Without changing any previous settings on the amplifier and at lower volumes it’s much louder than before. The bass notes seem deeper and more crisp. I believe it was the change in the tune from flush mount due to the size of the sub taking up air space. It’s really getting down now.
